As part of the national Drug Take Back Day, the UBHCHY Coalition once again participated in this event on September 29th. The event was a huge success with over 5,600 pounds of drugs collected throughout all of the county. Since the inception of the program, over 17,000 pounds have been collected in Bucks County.

Strengthening Families in the Upper Bucks County
Over the past year, the local coalition in Palisades called PACT (Partners in Action for Community Togetherness) has hosted five cycles of the Strengthening Families Program for Parents and Youth 10-14. Each cycle includes seven weekly, two hour sessions with both parents and their children.

Upper Bucks County Collects More Unwanted Prescription Drugs Than Any Other County in PA
The April 28th National Drug Take-Back Day was a huge success not only locally in Upper Bucks county, but throughout all of Bucks County and the rest of the country. In the UBHCHY Coalition area, the following police departments participated and collected increasing amounts of unused or expired prescriptions, (total pounds in parentheses):
UBHCHY 2012 Town Hall Meeting
On Tuesday, May 22nd the UBHCHY Coalition shared the 2012 Student Support Card at a town hall meeting held at the Perkasie campus of the Bucks County Community College. The meeting was attended by nearly 100 persons, of which one-third were high school students from the Palisades, Pennridge and Quakertown high schools.
Local Efforts During Third National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Results in Collection of over 165 pounds of Prescription Drugs
The Upper Bucks Healthy Communities Healthy Youth Coalition (UBHCHY) participated in the third national Rx Drug Take Back event held on Saturday, October 29,2011. This event is coordinated nationally through the federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and locally through the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and the Bucks County Drug and Alcohol Commission.

Prescription drug abuse by teenagers is increasing at alarming rates and is the second most abused type of drug after marijuana. To help stem this rising tide, the federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) sponsored its second national prescription drug “take back day” on April 30th.
